Welcome!

I’m Alisha Clarke, the owner of the AwCrap-tech YouTube channel, where I help seniors navigate technology safely. This website is a companion to the channel, offering additional resources for those who prefer learning in a different format.

I’m retired from a career in IT, and with a master’s degree in Sociology and years of experience teaching, I’m uniquely equipped to make technology understandable. Many in my generation struggle to keep up with our increasingly digital world, and I started this project to help others stay safe online.

Why a Password Manager?

In today’s world, we’re required to manage numerous accounts—far beyond just banking and credit cards. From utility companies to healthcare providers, nearly everything now requires logging into a website. The risks are global, with hackers potentially operating from anywhere. Simple passwords like “fifi123” are no longer enough; they need to be cryptic and secure.

The best way to manage these complex passwords is with a password manager, and that’s why you’re here.

After testing the top-rated options, I found that Proton Password Manager is the best fit for seniors. Their free version is powerful and sufficient for 90-95% of users. While there are advanced features available with a subscription, the free version will likely meet your needs.
